Artist's statement
I want to explore the meaning of life through this work, and attempt to visualise life through my own understanding of it. The work uses a Spinosaurus as the carrier of memory and soul, shuttling through the time tunnel formed by the interwoven film strips. The life composed of memories moves from far to near, from fragmented to complete. Fragments of memory and quick flashes appear and disappear around it. The carrier runs in time, fleeting in an instant. Does it have any meaning, or is it just nothingness?
The audience for this work is everyone. In my understanding, the carriers of each person's soul are naturally different, and I want to discuss my understanding of life with everyone. In my eyes, film is the most representative of memories: the black and white frozen moment is vintage and romantic.
This work was selected for a Silver Award by a judging panel of faculty from the Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martins, Parsons, Yale and RISD.
