Artist's statement

This project mainly focuses on the psychological and spiritual impact of what soldiers see and hear during the war, highlighting the cruelty of war and its devastation on soldiers, calling on the audience to stay away from war, oppose war, and care for soldiers who suffered from the war.

The background of my project is the Russian-Ukrainian War that started in 2022. After I watched a video in January this year, I was inspired to make a spatial art work that reminds people to stay away from war and oppose it. At the same time, the project is for war veterans, who can easily develop PTSD after the war: people who live in peace should take care of these soldiers’ hearts and minds.

This work was selected for a Gold Award by a judging panel of faculty from the Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martins, Parsons, Yale and RISD.
