Artist's statement
Since childhood, I have been drawn to stories where characters, despite their differences, unite toward a common goal. The tension between conflict and collaboration, shaped by diverse backgrounds and perspectives, deeply influences my work. I focus on character dynamics rooted in communication and shared purpose, where individuality becomes a strength, fostering teamwork, growth and the pursuit of harmony.
Japanese anime has profoundly shaped my artistic approach, particularly in character design, narrative and visual expression. Its emphasis on emotional depth and cross-cultural interaction has taught me to convey relationships through subtle gestures, intricate expressions and dynamic compositions.
This project presents my original world-building and character designs for an anime-inspired universe, written and illustrated by me. While not a full animation, it explores themes of resilience, coexistence and human connection through visual and narrative storytelling: the tale of Lilia of the Star Kingdom and Casi of the Forest Faction, where precise celestial calculation and nature's intuition collide.
This work was selected for a Silver Award by a judging panel of faculty from the Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martins, Parsons, Yale and RISD.
